ROLE OF AN AGENT

An agent is entrusted with a player’s forward progress both developmentally and financially as the player pursues his or her professional aspirations. At Quest, we take this responsibility with the highest regard and always represent our players with honesty, integrity, and dedication.

We firmly believe that an agent needs legal expertise to ensure that a player understands his rights and obligations when signing a contract. Unfortunately, many agents today do not have a law degree, or any legal training, yet advise players on what they might be signing. With Quest, players and families can rest assured that our combination of hockey knowledge and legal training will leave the player in the best position possible.

Some of our clients have left large agencies and often complained about false promises, unnecessary hype, or the inaccessibility of an agent before joining Quest. We strongly believe that our player philosophy of an honest approach coupled with an open dialogue helps our players reach their peak.

Players often have to decide where to play. At Quest, we will put all the information in front of a player and their family, so that the player can make the best, informed decision possible. We will give you our opinion as to where we believe the best opportunity may be, but we will not dictate your decision. We adopted this philosophy from Donald Baizely, an agency giant, who represented players such as Teemu Selanee and Joe Sakic before passing away in 2013.

PLAYER ADVANCEMENT

Getting noticed in hockey can be difficult. We utilize our hockey network to ensure the right teams, and their scouting staff, are familiar with a player and their skillset. We help players secure tryouts, facilitate trades (if necessary), and assist with player development to ensure the player is reaching their full potential.

BRANDING & ENDORSEMENT

As players develop, their personal brand becomes important. We help our players stay cognisant of their image on social media platforms, with the goal of securing endorsements when the player reaches the NHL.

COMMON QUESTIONS

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO HIRE QUEST SPORTS MANAGEMENT?

We charge our clients a small percentage of their salary. The percentage can vary from league to league dependent on the work involved. We do not profit from our players until they make the NHL level.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU TALK WITH A PLAYER?

We check in with our players every month to ensure they are continuing to develop. We often speak with coaches and scouts and receive feedback that we relay to the player. Often coaches will not tell a player all of their deficiencies, however they are far more forthcoming with us.

HOW DO YOU HELP WITH PLAYER DEVELOPMENT?

As agents we oversee your player development and consult on how you might improve aspects of your training. We also use the feedback we receive from coaches and scouts to help highlight areas for improvement both on and off the ice.
