The dream season for Mike Cazzola came to an end as the Acadia Axemen were not able to advance to the national championship in Saskatchewan.
Cazzola was a major factor in the success of the Axemen this past season. He was the leading scorer in the AUS finishing with 11 goals and 42 points in 28 games (good for T7th in Canada). He was named as a first team all-star and has continued his fine play throughout the post season with linemates Liam Heelis and Brett Thompson. The trio represents one of the most lethal lines in University Hockey across Canada.
Cazzola’s strong play extended beyond the AUS this season as the all-star represented Team Canada in the Winter Universiade where he won a gold medal in Italy. The 2nd year athlete showed tremendous poise in high pressure situations throughout the year.
While Cazzola still has two years left at the AUS level, his blistering speed and playmaking ability, backed by his statistical production, will make him a sought after commodity when he decides to make the jump to the pro ranks.
